John’s Knee Wall Insulation Project In Beaverdale, Iowa

Knee Wall Space: Under Insulated

John is a past customer of ours who had LeafGuard® Gutters installed on his unique 1925 Beaverdale, Iowa home. With many memories and history behind his home, John loved living in this wonderful neighborhood. Working on upgrading and creating a comfortable living space, John knew he needed to invest in insulating his home. John’s home like many other homes in the Beaverdale area is built with slanted ceilings in their attic. This creates an area called Knee Walls and they are the biggest struggle to keep insulated. John was unsure about what to do with this space and how to properly insulate it. Researching insulation companies near him, he came across a company he remembered who did a wonderful job on his gutters and reached out to Home Solutions of Iowa to provide him with their top-notch insulation services.

This space is extremely important to have insulated. It is in direct contact with the roof and outside temperatures and can easily transfer its heat into the adjoining room or down the walls to the rest of your home resulting in cold drafts and cold rooms.

A short wall called a Knee Wall forms a triangular space that can be accessed with a short door or access panel in the attic. The floor of the knee wall space forms the ceiling of the room below it. A lot of homeowners tend to use this space for storage.

Knee Wall Space: Fully Insulated

We went out to John’s home to evaluate his attic. Providing him with a Home Performance Evaluation, we identified areas in which heat was escaping. The Knee Wall space is an area that is a huge cause of heat loss. It is extremely important to have it properly insulated as it is in direct contact with the roof and outside temperatures can easily transfer its heat into the adjoining room or down the walls to the rest of the home. To provide a solution to heat loss in this area, we used our Spray Foam Insulation and Rigid Foam Insulation to eliminate any sort of air leakage. Rigid Foam Insulation is innovative, eye-pleasing, and super effective. It has a radiant barrier on both sides so it reflects roof heat out in the summer but brings the heat back in during the cold winter months. John can live at ease knowing his Knee Wall space is fully insulated with the proper insulation services. Both Spray Foam Insulation and Rigid Foam Insulation is the perfect solution to providing John’s Beaverdale, Iowa home with a more energy-efficient, cozy, and fully insulated space.
