Project Description
Craig Bartelt’s Cellulose Job In West Des Moines, Iowa
Cold Drafts in West Des Moines
Craig likes to spend his free time in his wood workshop. His wood workshop is located in the third stall of his garage which is heated but Craig was experiencing some cold drafts. Knowing it was just going to get much colder, he wanted some sort of solution to give him a comfortable setting while working in his workshop. Craig reached out to us at Home Solutions of Iowa to provide him with a Home Performance Evaluation.
Evaluating The Home
Taking the first step in finding a solution to providing Craig with a fully insulated garage was running a Heat Map Analysis Test. We inspected the attic above his garage and explained to Craig where heat was escaping. Showing Craig first hand of where the cold areas are in the home is great for him to have a nice visual of where the issues are in the home.
After
The Ultimate Solution: Air Sealing + Cellulose Insulation + Rigid Foam Insulation
Starting from scratch in Craig’s attic, we installed Rigid Foam Insulation on the walls of the attic. Rigid Foam Insulation creates a thermal barrier to the home’s expanded livable space on the upper level. With Craig working in the garage, his walls are open to the outside air. We Air Sealed the cracks within the Rigid Foam to provide the space fully insulated. After Air Sealing and installing Ridig Foam Insulation, we blew in Cellulose Insulation. Cellulose Insulation is made of recycled and environmentally safe materials making it safer for Craig. It is a denser and more effective layer than fiberglass.
Take Time To Be Comfortable
Craig can now enjoy his woodworking in his garage without having to worry about being cold. Taking the correct steps of a Home Performance Evaluation, Air Sealing, Cellulose Insulation, and Rigid Foam Insulation; we fully protected Craig’s attic.
