WINDSOCK

This Fourth of July windsock is a classic hanging ornament that can be made with only a few supplies and some that you might already have in your home! It’s a great beginner project because it has so few steps and uses common materials. Make more than one, hang them up around your home using your favorite hanging vessel, such as a shepherd’s hook, and you’ll have the perfect red-white-and-blue pop of flair you were looking for. All you’ll need to do for this project is to scour your recycling for a large tin can, and then run to your favorite craft store for white contact paper, red and white ribbon, jute string, and metallic blue spray paint.

CLOTHESPIN WREATH

There’s nothing better to showcase your love of The Fourth like a handmade patriotic wreath for the front of your door. This craft will take some time, but the outcome is worth it and can be added to your Fourth of July decorations and used for years to come. Plus, this is made out of something you might already have at home–clothespins! This clothespin wreath is a refreshing, modern twist on the traditional decorative door wreath.

PATRIOTIC LIGHTING

Hey, how about showing off those beautiful LeafGuard® gutters of yours? You hang Christmas lights, why not Fourth of July lights? Outdoor lights really do add to the ambiance of your outdoor get-together, so bust out your white Christmas lights, and jazz them up to be festive and Fourth of July ready by doing either of these DIY lighting projects.

  • Streamers–All you need are lights and some red, white, and blue streamers. Get your lights up how you want them, and just wrap your streamers around them. Sometimes the simplest way is the best way. This is easy, time and cost-efficient, and any guests will love the added festive touch.
  • Yarn Lights–This DIY lighting project is super fun and easy. You can make these lights for The Forth, and replicate them with different colors for different holidays. It’s quick and cheap, but the final product looks like it was an expensive boutique purchase.

PALLET FLAG

Ready to dive into a bit more of a challenging project? This DIY pallet flag is the top dog of Fourth of July decorations. The final product is seriously impressive and will have your neighbors admiring both your decorating and crafting skills. This pallet flag will be the perfect addition to your outdoor Fourth of July party.

However, you decide to decorate for the Fourth, make sure your personal style is represented in any DIY decorations you create. We at Home Solutions of Iowa wish you a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July!
